New year, new books: WWB team members on the translated titles we’re most looking forward to in 2026.

I’m always a fan of Emma Ramadan’s work, so I was excited to see that she has a new translation forthcoming from Yale University Press in February: Notes to a Black Woman by Afro-Martinican writer Françoise Ega. In the 1960s, after hearing about the terrible working conditions faced by Caribbean domestic workers in France, Ega took a similar job herself with the goal of documenting what she saw. I’m especially curious about how the author introduces epistolary and memoiristic elements into what might otherwise be a straightforward exposé.
